Rain, wind pummel the Bronx

THE BRONX - A nor'easter smacked the Bronx Saturday, causing heavy rain, fierce winds and flooding.

Pedestrians along East Fordham Road found it difficult to walk due to the combination of rain and powerful wind gusts of up to 40 miles per hour.

The howling wind overturned trash cans and mangled store signs throughout the borough, even knocking down an awning in front of R.J. Pet Shop on West Kingsbridge Road.

"We have to put up a whole new sign and put more cash into it to fix it," says store owner Ruben Santana.
