Rally seeks to protect funding for sexual-assault victims

THE BRONX - Bronx residents rallied today in opposition to proposed budget cuts that could curtail the work of a special program for sexual-assault victims.

City Council members, district attorneys, doctors and local residents gathered on the steps of City Hall to fight for the program and its funding.

A Health and Hospitals Corporation spokesperson says if it can't effectively change the program to save the amount of money needed, it will cut from another program to achieve the same savings.
