THE BRONX - A benefit concert was held in The Bronx over the weekend to encourage neighborhood children interested in rap music to hit the books.

The Rebel Diaz Arts Collective organized the fundraiser. Its members say they try to teach kids that the more they read, the further they will go in music.

All proceeds will go toward the opening of a new local library, which will be named after Young Lord's Party member Richie Perez.
