THE BRONX - It's been exactly six months since Superstorm Sandy wreaked havoc on the East Coast, and for many, the road to recovery has not yet come to an end.

Many people in the Bronx suffered losses to their homes and businesses as floodwaters left many neighborhoods under water and covered with debris. Thousands of people in New York and New Jersey remain homeless as a result of the storm, and many communities are still struggling to rebuild.

Federal and state officials announced on Friday a $1.7 billion plan to help homeowners and businesses pick up the pieces after not only Sandy, but also Tropical Storms Irene and Lee.
