THE BRONX - Crews from the Department of Environmental Protection spent Tuesday evening working to fix a sinkhole on Lurting Avenue.

Area residents say the hole had opened Friday.

Neighbors say the sinkhole was particularly dangerous because many children live in the area.

Officials say the DEP is looking to identify the cause of the rift.
