THE BRONX - According to a new report released by the city?s Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, The Bronx has the poorest health and second-highest death rates in all of New York City.

The report says the leading causes of health-related deaths in The Bronx are cancer, HIV and diabetes.

According to statistics from 2009, 144 deaths out of 1,000 have occurred from cancer in The Bronx. The statistics also say just under 23 deaths occurred per 1,000 people from HIV. The Bronx also had the highest number of diabetes-related deaths, with 24.8 deaths reported per 1,000 people.
