THE BRONX - New York City has issued report cards for more than 1,200 elementary and middle schools, and some Bronx schools did not fare well.

Schools were given extra credit if low-performing Hispanic and black male students made big gains in their scores.

Among the Bronx schools that received failing grades are P.S. 179 on East 140th Street, P.S. 277 on Saint Ann's Avenue, P.S. X114 on Cromwell Avenue and the Aspire Preparatory Middle School on Wallace Avenue.
