THE BRONX - A new report calls distracted driving an epidemic in the U.S.

Nearly 5,500 people were killed in car crashes involving a distracted driver last year, according to the National Transportation Highway Safety Administration.

The report says many people put on makeup, have phone conversations and do their nails behind the wheel.
