THE BRONX - A new report shows that many of New York state's youth are leading unproductive lives, but a local youth center is trying to turn the numbers and their lives around.

According to the latest Kids Count report, 16 percent of teens and young adults are not in school or in the workforce. It also found that 200,000 of those young people are in New York City.

The F.E.G.S. Bronx Youth Center on East 147th Street in Mott Haven says it works to motivate 800 kids every year. The organization helps them graduate from high school and begin their careers.
