PARKCHESTER - The NYPD is keeping track of Muslims who change their names, according to the Associated Press.

The move is part of an ongoing surveillance program by the NYPD in its search for homegrown terrorists.

The Islamic community in Parkchester has mixed feeling about the program. Some feel that the NYPD has good reasons to conduct the program, while others are against it. One resident says, "Tthey should not target it, let's do it a different way, then people will feel much better, you know that's my request."

The New York chapter of the ACLU says unless the police department has specific information that a crime was committed or about to be committed, the surveillance program would be illegal.
