MOUNT HOPE - Firefighters at Rescue 3 in the Bronx gathered today on Washington Avenue to remember their friends and coworkers who rushed to Ground Zero after the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001.

Twelve members of the Rescue 3 squad lined up at the entrance of the firehouse to pay their respects to the eight firefighters who died trying to rescue others.

Capt. James Ellson said the firefighters in his team chose to remember their fallen friends in a low-key fashion. Ellson says the families of the fallen firefighters were invited to spend the day at the firehouse.
