Residents: City narrow-minded with Pelham Parkway roadwork

THE BRONX - Residents living near Pelham Parkway say city construction has made an adjacent service road too narrow. Hundreds of neighbors signed a petition for the Department of Design and Construction, fearing the new layout would cut off emergency vehicles. Sources tell News 12 The Bronx that the road width was discussed before workers broke ground. City officials say residents originally requested parking on both sides of the roadway, but that sidewalks must be installed in compliance with national disabilities legislation.
