Residents concerned about safety at Grand Concourse subway stop

THE BRONX - Residents say they are concerned about safety at the subway stop at 175th Street and Grand Concourse after recent crimes.

Residents say the large B and D train station needs an underground agent and many say they have seen illegal activities in the area. Last week, police made an arrest and a drug bust in the same day.

Residents say having a station agent would deter crime and provide extra security. The city removed the station agent there in 2006. The Metropolitan Transportation Authority says it has no plans to bring back the station agent position that was cut. However, it says there is an agent on the uptown side of the station.
