HUNTS POINT - Despite the current hard economic times, workers at the Hunts Point Market say turkeys are still flying off the shelves this year.

Residents are not only flocking to Hunts Point to pick out the perfect bird, they are looking for the most affordable turkey and all the trimmings. Westside Foods owners say even though times are tough, people seem to be buying turkeys because they say food is something that is seen as a bond to bring families together.

Workers say they spent the last few days stocking and shipping turkeys and meats to restaurants and grocery stores all over the borough.
