BELMONT - Some Bronx residents skipped Black Friday in anticipation of ?Small Business Saturday.?

The second annual ?Small Business Saturday? was part of a national initiative to attract more customers to local mom-and-pop shops.

Local stores had some great deals yesterday. Organizers say they hope the event will help boost the local economy, as well as kick off the very important holiday shopping season.
