NEW YORK - Crowded residents are making the choice to hop on two-wheelers more often, according to city statistics.

Mayor Michael Bloomberg says the number of peoplecommuting by bike is up 62 percent since the spring of 2008. Andit's up 262 percent overall since 2000.

The DOT says it recorded 18,809cyclists per day this spring.AP wires contributed to this report.
