THE BRONX - Residents hope a new traffic light and pedestrian crosswalk at a busy intersection in Soundview will help keep people safe.

The new light was installed on Jan. 13 at the intersection of Nobel and Story avenues.

The intersection is home to a 24-hour pharmacy, a busy bus stop and plenty of foot traffic.

Marcos Crespo, a New York State assemblyman from the Bronx, received hundreds of complaints and concerns from community members warning of the dangerous intersection.

Crespo says his office contacted the Department of Transportation, and the city installed a new traffic light.

Residents say the pedestrian crosswalk signal is easy to read, and they feel safer now that it's there.
