THE BRONX - Concerned Bronx residents say illegal cookouts are being held along the Mosholu Parkway service road, despite signs specifically stating that barbecues are banned in the area.

Neighbors say they're worried that people who hold the cookouts won't properly maintain the flames, or will abandon hot ash and embers to burn out on their own.

"We are five minutes from the botanical garden," says resident Shelia Sanchez. "What is going to happen if we have a bad wind and one of these trees catch on fire?"

News 12 The Bronx crews didn't spot anyone illegally lighting up along the parkway, but did spot some leftover charcoal from barbecues past. Park crews were out cleaning up some of the litter today.
