Residents: Memorial Grove in dire need of repairs

THE BRONX - Residents say the Veterans Memorial Grove in Van Cortlandt Park is in dire need of repairs.

Residents say the memorial dedicated to Bronx residents who fought in WWII and the Korean War is in need of restoration. Many say the area has missing or broken plaques.

Councilman Oliver Koppell allocated $250,000 back in 2007 for restoration but residents say the work hasn't even started. The Parks Department had scheduled restoration to begin this April but say the plan is under review. Residents say they have waited long enough to see the memorial back in good condition.
