Residents of Forest Houses fed up by trash overload

MORRISANIA - Residents of the Forest Houses are complaining that garbage surrounding their homes at 735 E. 165th St. has gotten out of control.

Homeowners say dozens of old mattresses, spoiled food and broken furniture are attracting rats, flies, maggots and roaches to the neighborhood. Frustrated residents must not only pay for the garbage tickets they are issued, but also for protective screens to keep the parasites outside.

Residents say most of the trash is from people living outside the area. Many say they have seen private trucks dumping garbage from other locations into the lot.

Homeowners say their property values are decreasing due to the garbage situation.
