NEW YORK - Residents rallied to show solidarity with the family of Akai Gurley Friday.

Gurley was shot and killed in 2014 by former Police Officer Peter Liang in a dark stairwell in Brooklyn. 

Liang was found guilty of second-degree manslaughter and official misconduct on Thursday. 

Following the verdict, the NYPD announced that Peter Liang's partner Shaun Landau was fired from the force.
