THE BRONX - While many Bronx residents lamented the frigid weather Saturday, local business selling space heaters celebrated the cold snap.

Morrisania resident Jose Santiago says he didn't plan to head out to Home Depot to purchase a heater, but temperatures in the teens and mid-20s left him no choice.

"I'm scared of the cold," he says. "Just got to keep warm and bundle up."

Landlords are required by law to provide heat for their tenants from Oct. 1 to May 31. The indoor temperature must be at least 68 degrees Fahrenheit from 6 p.m. to 10 a.m., and at least 55 degrees between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.
