THE BRONX - The Department of Buildings is asking all residents affected by yesterday?s water main break to vacate their apartments so inspection and cleanup can take place.

Those living in ground-floor apartments on Jerome Avenue were hit hardest, with these building tenants reporting that they lost everything to water damage. The Red Cross is providing shelter to the families for the next two nights, and many don't know what they'll do after that.
The city's Department of Buildings has inspected 44 buildings so far, and no structural issues have been found yet.
