Residents want vacant lot fixed up

UNIONPORT - Sick and tired of a vacant lot littered with garbage, rodents and weeds, Unionport residents rallied to get it fixed Sunday.

Tenants near the lot on Newbold Avenue gathered to bring attention to what they say are its deplorable conditions. According to the tenants, garbage, rats, weeds and deviant behavior have plagued the lot for three years. One person says she was jumped, while others say they have been injured because of the unleveled sidewalk surrounding the lot.

Tenants say the lot and sidewalk are owned by W-L Asset Corporation in the Bronx. News 12 The Bronx - reached out for comment but did not receive a phone call back.
