Residents warned to clear ice, snow from rooftops

THE BRONX - The city is reminding all Bronx property owners to remove the ice and snow from their rooftops, overhangs and awnings.

The Department of Buildings says residents are required by city law to remove the icy buildup for the public's safety. Inspectors will be heading out to do random spot checks and hand out fines to owners who haven't cleaned their buildings.

Residents are urged not to put off the shoveling and ice chipping. Temperatures are expected to dip into the teens, making it more difficult to remove the frozen snow.
