THE BRONX - Construction is well underway on a major expansion to the Mall at Bay Plaza, but many worry that no one is considering the traffic it will bring in.

Some residents and politicians say the Department of Transportation needs to do something to improve traffic flow in an already congested area of Co-op City before the mall opens in late 2014.

Bronx Assemblyman Michael Benedetto says he’s already scheduled a meeting with transportation officials and the governor's office in early January in hope of getting road improvements at Bay Plaza moving.

The mall will bring in hundreds of jobs and more than 100 specialty stores in about 800,000 square feet of new retail space.
