Rezoning proposal affects 181 blocks in Williamsbridge, Baychester

WILLIAMSBRIDGE - The City Planning Commission is contemplating a rezoning proposal for 181 blocks in Williamsbridge and Baychester.

The blocks make up the area surrounded by the Bronx River, the New England Thruway, 233rd Street and Gun Hill Road. The commission's proposal aims to prevent commercial strips from moving into residential streets and protecting the neighborhood's character.

The Community Board has 60 days to review the proposal.
