Riverdale blood drive held to commemorate 9/11

RIVERDALE - Residents attended a blood drive today in Riverdale that was hosted by the Hebrew Institute of Riverdale.

The drive was held to commemorate the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. Nearly 40 people donated blood.

The event, which was called a day of "chesed," or kindness, also featured a bone marrow and clothing drive.

Many local businesses offered free services to Bronx residents in attendance.
