THE BRONX - People living in Riverdale are petitioning plans for their neighborhood park.

Residents complain that the city is spending more than $1 million to build a playground for kids under the age of 5 at Ewen Park when the area really needs to be cleaned up.

They say the playground won't serve enough of the community and want the money to instead be used for upkeep at the park.

The Parks Department said in a statement that it's working with the community to address concerns and that money for the playground isn't coming from the maintenance budget.

The petition has about 200 signatures so far.
