Rosie Perez blasts Sen. Diaz over gay marriage

THE BRONX - Actress Rosie Perez released a video condemning state Sen. Ruben Diaz Sr. (D-Bronx) for his opposition to same-sex marriage.

Last year, Diaz voted against the Marriage Equality Bill. The senator is also outspoken about his staunch opposition to same-sex relationships.

"Sen. Ruben Diaz, I'm extremely disappointed with your position on this matter," Perez says in the video. "Please take note, you are not speaking for the majority of New York Latinos."

Diaz responded by saying that as a minister, he cannot reject the tenets of his faith.

Perez's video was filmed to help raise money for "Fight Back New York," an organization targeting legislators who vote against equal rights for gays and lesbians.
