THE BRONX - A strike is looming at a Bronx Catholic high school on Williamsbridge Road.

Educators at Saint Catherine Academy are threatening to walk off the job unless a deal is reached for higher salaries. Contract negotiations are underway, but neither side has been able to come to an agreement.

The teachers say they're picketing every morning before class to raise awareness about their pay. They also sent a letter home with students saying in part, "We can no longer continue to offer quality education with the salaries we receive."

The president of the academy said in a statement, "We have great respect for the important work of our teachers in educating our students. We are committed to reaching a financial agreement with the faculty and are optimistic that a settlement will be achieved."
