THE BRONX - An impressive makeover is in the works for a popular park in the south Bronx.

Saint Mary's Park recently received $1.5 million from the City Council to transform 2 1/2 acres of its west side.

NYC Parks and its partners want the area to have more benches, water fountains and upgrades to fields.

It hosted an open forum earlier this month to brainstorm ideas, which are expected to be presented in July.

One idea includes possibly restoring the tennis courts or replacing them with a different amenity.
