Sanitation Department crews work to prevent black ice on Bronx roadways

THE BRONX - The Sanitation Department says it dispatched more than 400 salters around the five boroughs Tuesday morning to combat the snowstorm and clear up roads.

After the snow stopped falling, the department's focus turned to ice.

Drivers are advised to watch for black ice and add travel time as temperatures fall overnight.
