LONGWOOD - Hundreds of excited children in Longwood headed out in the rain Wednesday to meet Santa Claus.

Santa, along with officers from the 41st Precinct and Marines, shared his afternoon with the children. The eager kids got to take their picture with Santa, as well as receive a present.

Those who volunteered for the event say during the economic hard times, it is a great feeling to make children smile.

Organizers say they are planning to make the party an annual event.
