THE BRONX - The Save our Streets (SOS) program is attempting to reach out to young, at-risk residents in the South Bronx to try and curb gun violence.

SOS works with neighborhood residents and churches to reach out to the at-risk youth. In addition to contacting youth at risk of becoming involved with crime, SOS also reaches out to those who could become victims of violent crimes.

The program is based off a successful program used in Chicago called Cease Fire, which addresses violence as a disease that must be treated.
