CASTLE HILL - Class is out for the weekend, but thousands of school bus drivers and aides are keeping their strike going on the picket line.

The 8,000 members of the transit union say they want new contracts to include job protection for current drivers, a guarantee Mayor Michael Bloomberg says is illegal. The workers say they aren't concerned about money, but rather their job security.

The tens of thousands of school children who rely on school buses have been using other means of transportation. The city is reimbursing parents for subway fares, gas mileage and taxi fees.
