THE BRONX - Bronx parents had a tense morning following reports of a gun at P.S. 107 in Soundview.

According to the Department of Education (DOE), a second-grade student brought a yellow plastic gun to the school. Police and safety officers were sent to the scene, which parents say made the situation more unnerving.

Frustrated parents say they were told that they couldn't go into the building and that kids couldn't leave, but school officials maintain that there wasn't a lockdown. After about an hour, parents were allowed into the building one by one to take their children home.

School officials say letters were sent home informing parents about today's incident.
