THE BRONX - Residents living in the Gun Hill Houses in Olinville say the lights may be on at night, but they are still concerned for their safety.
Residents say locks to some of the apartment buildings have been broken for years, allowing anyone to enter.
"There have been quite a few shootings in the past month, so that got me scared for my family," says tenant David Graulau.
Just over the past three weeks, there have been two deadly shootings in the neighborhood, including one in an unlocked building.
Robert Hall, the president of the local tenant association, says the housing project has become less safe since it merged with two others in 2005.
"One of the problems with consolidated developments is we have to share management, and it's not in the best interest of residents in Gun Hill," Hall says.
