WASHINGTON - (AP) - Democrats have delayed a showdown vote onlegislation carving out a path to legal status for foreign-bornyoungsters brought to this country illegally.

The bill is aimed at hundreds of thousands of young illegalimmigrants brought to the U.S. before the age of 16, who have beenin the country for five years and graduated from high school orgained an equivalency degree. They would have a chance to gainlegal status if they joined the military or attended college.
