THE BRONX - Seniors at the Academy of Mount St. Ursula are putting a twist on “ring day.”

The rite of passage is something all Ursula girls say they look forward to since freshman year. The 53-year-old tradition incorporates a "ring race" down a steep hill on 199th Street toward the school's campus.

After they pump the brakes on their blades, skates or scooters, the students make their way inside the school's auditorium for the ceremony. Though receiving their rings means they're one step closer to kissing the academy goodbye, the seniors say their sisterhood will continue on.

Some are even passing down skating and scooting tips for the up-and-coming Ursula girls.
