Senior stabbed to death in Bronx apartment

THE BRONX - Police say a 72-year-old man was stabbed to death inside his apartment complex Friday.

Jerry Williams' body was discovered in the stairwell of 370 East 153rd St. with stab wounds to his chest, authorities say. Neighbors say his sister, Maxine Vereen, is responsible for killing Williams.

Police arrested Vereen, who is in her 50s, and charged her with second-degree murder. Neighbors say Vereen has a serious crack addiction and she was most likely upset with Williams for cashing his own check Oct. 1, instead of letting her do it.
