THE BRONX - A veteran and his service dog were reunited in Morrisania on Wednesday.

As News 12 reported, the dog, named Chulo, was stolen moments after being tied up outside the Associated Supermarket grocery store on Third Avenue on Sunday.

Chulo's owner, John Nevarez, says people from all over the neighborhood were calling him to say his dog was found looking hungry.

Nevarez is a diabetic and says Chulo is trained to bark when his blood sugar is getting low.

Surveillance video shows a man bringing the Shih Tzu in some sort of bag and tying him up outside the store before walking away.

Nevarez says he thinks it's possible the publicity of his story guilted the man who took Chulo into giving him back.
