Services cut for BX homeless shelter

SOUNDVIEW - The city cut funding and services for a homeless shelter Wednesday that will lead to the elimination of transportation and screening at the facility.

The Holy Cross Catholic Church homeless shelter provides food and shelter for men in need. Pastor Peter Pomposello says the men will now be taken to a drop-off center in Manhattan to be screened for drugs and weapons. He adds that they will then be transported by bus to the Holy Cross shelter to be taken care of.

Church leaders say they will fight to keep the shelter open.
