THE BRONX - Fire officials evacuated several people inside buildings Wednesday after a small transformer box explosion.

Officials say a construction crew hit a transformer box underground causing the explosion near 860 Hunts Point Ave.

Witnesses say they saw their lights flicker before venturing outside around 11 a.m.

Crews from Consolidated Edison Inc., are on the scene investigating the situation.
