Several families left in cold after 3-alarm fire in Belmont

BELMONT - Several families have been left out in the cold after a massive fire ripped through two homes last night in Belmont.

Fire officials say the three-alarm blaze broke out inside a home on Adams Place shortly before 9 p.m. Monday, and quickly spread to the one next to it. Officials say 138 firefighters responded to the fire, facing freezing temperatures and whipping winds.

Five people were treated for minor injuries.

Officials are still trying to determine what caused the blaze.
