THE BRONX - The cleanup continues after Sunday's sewage leak at 23-11 Southern Blvd. in Belmont.
The leak, which has since been repaired, caused sewage to back up into toilets, sinks and bathtubs, forcing wastewater to flow down the halls of the apartment building.
The building's management company, Reliant Realty, says there are plans to compensate tenants for any legitimate damage caused by the flooding, but some residents are unsure of how they will be compensated for medical problems that have arisen as a result of the conditions. One tenant says his daughter got an eye infection after she fell into the waste water, and he says he's not sure what price he could put on her suffering.
Residents say that the smell is horrible, and they hope that they get reimbursed for hotel rooms in addition to their belongings.
