THE BRONX - A shooting in the 44th Precinct has ended eight weeks of silence on the streets.

Police say a man was shot in the thigh in front of 182 East 166th St. at around 3 p.m. Tuesday.

The victim was rushed to Lincoln Hospital, but his condition is not known.

Local residents say they hope the shooting incident will not be the spark to a violent spring and summer.
