THE BRONX - After braving long lines on Black Friday, Bronx shoppers headed back to the stores today to take advantage of "Small Business Saturday."

Mayor Michael Bloomberg declared "Small Business Saturday" as a way to boost the city's economy. He says for every $100 spent in local stores, $68 is returned to the community through taxes.

"What you put into your community, you get in return in better service," says shopper Fernando Troche.

Many small shops in the Bronx are offering sharp discounts today to lure in bargain-hunters.

"We are trying to survive in this industry," says entrepreneur Karrica Cruz.

American Express is one of the major companies supporting "Small Business Saturday." The credit card company is offering its clients a $25 credit for shopping at local participating stores.
