BETHPAGE, N.Y. - Family, friends and fellow officers paid their respects Wednesday to slain NYPD Sgt. Paul Tuozzolo.

Hundreds attended his Long Island wake at Chapey & Sons Funeral Home in Bethpage.

Tuozzolo, a 19-year veteran of the force, was killed last Friday in the Bronx after he and his partner, Sgt. Emmanuel Kwo, pursued 35-year-old Manuel Rosales, who broke into the Van Nest apartment of his estranged wife.

The wake drew both past and present NYPD commissioners, as well as local politicians who said police officers dying in the line of duty is happening across the country too often. Also present were the parents of NYPD Det. Wenjian Liu, who along with his partner, Rafael Ramos, was killed in his patrol car in Brooklyn in December 2014.

Tuozzolo's funeral Mass is Thursday morning at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church on Merrick Road in Massapequa. There were will be road closures in the area during that time.

Tuozzolo is survived by his wife and children.
