Slumlord watch list exposes bad buildings

THE BRONX - More than 150 landlords whose buildings are disgusting or unsafe have earned a place of shame on a new slumlord watch list from city Public Advocate Bill de Blasio.

De Blasio's new website will let tenants look up a building owner to see if he or she is on the list. They can plug in an address, type in a street or sort to see the worst slumlords in the city.

Many of the buildings listed have been cited for conditions such as urine-soaked hallways, rats, squatters living in abandoned areas and garbage in communal areas.

According to the website, eight out of the city's 10 worst buildings are in The Bronx.
